Dysfunctional Family

We are starting a new Small Group study on Thursday and will be studying the life of Joseph. After reading about his life, he came from a family which had issues. His father Jacob had two wives and two concubines. Leah was able to bear children early while Rachel was barren for some time. That had to cause strife and jealously among the wives which then carried over to the children. They all had children and tried to live together harmoniously. Reuben, Jacob's oldest son, slept with his father's concubine and Jacob never issued correction. Jacob was passive & showed favoritism, two characteristics which had a huge impact on the lives of his son. In spite of all the troubles, Joseph turns out to be a great man of God. One who patiently waits for God to do his thing, never complaining about his time in the pit or prison. Overall, I love Joseph and hope that his story can impact my life as a father, brother and leader.
